Mark Auslander, Ph.D.

Mark Auslander earned his B.A., M.A. and Ph.D. in anthropology from the University of Chicago. He has undertaken ethnographic research in southern Africa and in the southern United States; he has interests in ritual, art, memory, cultural heritage, kinship and the family.Mark AuslanderEnlarge this image He has published on African witchfinding, race and political symbolism in Georgia cemeteries, and contemporary art. He is currently an assistant professor of anthropology at Brandeis University, where he directs the interdisciplinary M.A. program in cultural production.
