Robyn Fivush is the Samuel Candler Dobbs Professor of Psychology and chair of the department. She received her Ph.D. from the Graduate Center of The City University of New York in 1983 and was a post-doctoral fellow at the Center for Human Information Processing, University of California at San Diego from 1982 to 1984.

She is a core faculty member at the Emory Center for Myth and Ritual in American Life and an associated faculty member with the Department of Women's Studies. She has published over 100 books, articles and chapters. Her work focuses on autobiographical memory with an emphasis on the social construction of autobiographical memory and the relations among memory, narrative, trauma, and coping.
